Mastercam

Class Descriptions

Basic

This class is designed for people with little or no Mastercam experience. Attendees will learn how to draw/design in 2D, as well as, how to create basic 2D Mastercam toolpaths such as Contour, Pocket and Drill. The students will become familiar with the Mastercam interface, features of the operations manager, back plotting, post processing, and file conversions.

Intermediate
This class is designed as a continuation of Basic mill class. The prerequisite will be having taken Basic or a general understanding of the Mastercam X interface. The student will achieve a high understanding of drilling, contouring, and creating pockets with and without islands. The student will have an understanding of absolute and incremental settings, machining features, filtering toolpaths, toolpath transformations, wcs, and working with offsets. The class will focus on the machining of a 3 stage part setup including top, bottom, and rotary table.

Advanced
The student learns how to machine surfaces. Including ruled, loft, and net surfaces. You will create a rough parallel toolpath, a finish parallel toolpath, a finish leftover toolpath, and a finish pencil toolpath. The student then will learn roughing toolpaths for surface machining, including rough pocket, rough plunge, rest mill and high-speed rough pocket. Also, the student will learn the surface finishing toolpaths: parallel steep, parallel shallow, radial, project, contour, shallow contour, scallop, and flow line. Finally, the student will learn the new high speed machining toolpaths incorporated in MR1 release. The prerequisite for this class will be completion of the intermediate class or transition X class. The student must be an experienced 2D Mastercam user.

Special Classes
Here is a list of our special two and one day classes.

  Multiaxis
The Mastercam Multiaxis class will introduce the concepts and principles of multi-axis machining. Topics covered include: identifying common multi-axis machine tool configurations; understanding the difference between multi-axis positioning and simultaneous toolpaths; understanding the different types of multi-axis toolpaths, capabilities and advantages they provide over conventional 3 axis toolpaths. This training class will cover CNC Software’s Legacy Multi-axis toolpaths only. The prerequisite for this class will be the completion of the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced classes or the equivalent experience. This two day class is $ 600.00 per person

Lathe

This class will cover all the Lathe toolpaths from simple face, rough, finish routines through c-axis programming. We will also cover some geometry creation and misc op. This one day class is 300.00 per person and is available by request.

Here are some other classes offered. These are all one day classes at $ 300.00 per person.

3D High Speed Toolpaths

2D High Speed Toolpaths and Feature Based Machining

Mastercam for SolidWorks

Rotary and Horizontal Machining

Onsite is also available for $ 750.00 a day and we can customize the training to your needs.
